  5. NEW FEATURES AND IMPROVEMENTS

  7. * New UI
  8. The new UI includes significant visual and functional changes such as:
  9.    - A new dedicated tab that contains all of your media content
  10.    - Ability to show/hide the service pane when viewing webpages (it's 
  11.      automatically hidden when viewing web content, but a button will allow you 
  12.      to toggle show/hide)
  13.    - Ability to choose where the player controls live, the top or bottom of the 
  14.      window, based on user preference (right click on the player control pane to
  15.      change its location or on some platforms View menu -> Player Controls).
  16.    - New look and feel for the Mini Player

  18. * Faster Media Scan
  19. Scanning for media on your local drive is significantly faster.
  20.  
  21. * First Run Wizard
  22. The wizard will walk you through EULA, media scanning, and installing
  23. recommended add-ons when launching the application for the first time. You'll
  24. need to create a new profile to be presented with the wizard (since you will
  25. not see it if upgrading).

  27. * Drag & Drop
  28. The drag and drop experience in the application has been greatly improved.
  29. It now supports visual feedback to show you how many items you are dragging.

  31. * Smart Playlists
  32. We now have smart playlist support which not only allows you to create your
  33. own customized playlists, but also provide defaults for:
  34.    - Highest Rated
  35.    - Most Played
  36.    - Recently Added
  37.    - Recently Played
  38.    
  39. * Album Art
  40. Songbird can now read, write and display album artwork.  There's a new Album
  41. Art Display Pane in the bottom of the Service Pane that shows the artwork
  42. associated with currently playing track.  In the Metadata Editor, you can add,
  43. remove, and paste artwork to a track - changes will be saved to the
  44. file(s) you edit.
